Take-profit

A take-profit order automatically closes a position once price reaches a target level, locking in gains without requiring you to watch the chart.

Like a stop-loss, a take-profit sits on the exchange as a pending order and triggers once price touches the target, converting to a market or limit order to close the position.

For example, buying at $60,000 and setting a take-profit at $63,000 locks in a $3,000 gain per coin held, before fees, the moment price reaches that level.

A common mistake is setting a single fixed take-profit and never revisiting it. The order-management approach in the trading knowledge base instead treats an open position as something to keep re-evaluating — closing part of it when momentum fades and letting the rest run only while price structure still supports it — rather than locking in one static exit and walking away.
