Best Decentralized Crypto Exchanges

Ranked by CompareCEX Score v1 · 3 exchanges with enough verified data. See our methodology.

A decentralized exchange (DEX) lets you trade directly from your own wallet through a smart contract — the platform never takes custody of your funds, unlike a centralized exchange (CEX) where you deposit crypto into an account it controls. That removes exchange-hack and withdrawal-freeze risk, but shifts responsibility to you: if you lose your wallet's seed phrase, or approve a malicious contract, there is no support desk that can reverse it. This page ranks only exchanges in our Knowledge Graph typed as DEX, perpetual DEX, or aggregator (never a custodial CEX) by the same public CompareCEX Score used site-wide. Some well-known DEX aggregators are not listed below because our fee data on them is not yet complete enough to score fairly — we exclude rather than estimate.

How we ranked: we filtered exchanges to type IN (dex, perp_dex, aggregator, bridge) from the exchanges table, then sorted by the full CompareCEX Score (fees from maker_fee/taker_fee/pool_fee_range, KYC ease, geo coverage, security track record, features and more — see /methodology/). Regulation is not counted for non-custodial protocols since there is no license to hold.

Self-custody means you are your own security team — a lost seed phrase or a signed malicious transaction cannot be reversed by anyone, including us.
