How the liquidation estimate works
This is an isolated-margin approximation:
long liq = entry × (1 − 1/leverage + mmr)
short liq = entry × (1 + 1/leverage − mmr)
Example: a long entered at $50,000 with 10x leverage and a 0.5% maintenance margin liquidates around $45,250 — a 9.5% adverse move, slightly less than the 10% (100 ÷ leverage) you might expect, because the exchange reserves the maintenance margin before your position is fully wiped out.
