Coinbase withdrawal fees depend on what you're sending and how. Moving crypto between two Coinbase accounts costs nothing†. Sending USDT or BTC through the Lightning Network adds a small built-in charge on top of the network fee, and most other crypto withdrawals only cost the network fee itself†.
This guide covers Coinbase.com's published crypto withdrawal fees. We don't have a verified Coinbase fee figure for cashing out to a bank account, so we say that plainly instead of guessing. See our methodology for how we source every number on this site.
What do you pay to withdraw crypto from Coinbase?
Here's the Coinbase withdrawal fee breakdown by method.
| Withdrawal type | Coinbase fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Coinbase to Coinbase (internal transfer) | Free | Fixed, no network cost† |
| USDT to an external wallet | 0.01% of the amount | Capped at 20 USDT† |
| BTC via Lightning Network | 0.2% of the amount | Plus the Lightning network fee† |
| Other crypto (on-chain BTC, ETH, etc.) | No separate Coinbase fee | You pay the network fee only† |
The network fee isn't set by Coinbase. It moves with blockchain congestion, so the same withdrawal can cost more on a busy day†.
Does Coinbase charge a withdrawal fee for bank transfers?
We can't confirm this one. Coinbase publishes fees for money coming into your account by wire: $10 for a Fedwire deposit and $25 for a SWIFT deposit, with ACH deposits free†. Those numbers cover deposits, not withdrawals. For the current fee to send money out to a bank, check Coinbase's official pricing page before you cash out. Don't assume the deposit fee and the withdrawal fee match.
How do you calculate your Coinbase withdrawal fee?
- Pick your withdrawal method: internal transfer, USDT, BTC Lightning, or another crypto.
- If it's internal, the fee is zero†.
- If it's USDT or BTC Lightning, multiply the amount by the percentage shown above.
- Add the live network fee quoted at checkout.
- For USDT, check whether the result is above or below the 20 USDT cap.
Two worked examples, using fee arithmetic only:
- Withdraw 5,000 USDT. The fee is 0.01% × 5,000 = $0.50, well under the 20 USDT cap†. You pay $0.50 plus the network fee.
- Withdraw 250,000 USDT. The fee is 0.01% × 250,000 = $25. That's above the cap, so you pay 20 USDT instead of $25†.
- Withdraw $1,000 worth of BTC through Lightning. The fee is 0.2% × $1,000 = $2†, plus the Lightning network fee.

How do Coinbase withdrawal fees compare to its trading fees?
| Fee type | Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Maker (Advanced Trade) | 0% – 0.4% | Tiered by 30-day trading volume† |
| Taker (Advanced Trade) | 0.05% – 0.6% | Tiered by 30-day trading volume† |
| Withdrawal, internal transfer | Free | † |
| Withdrawal, USDT | 0.01%, capped at 20 USDT | † |
These maker and taker rates come from Coinbase's Advanced Trade fee schedule††. The regular Coinbase app bakes its cost into the quoted buy/sell price instead of showing a separate percentage, and we don't have a verified flat rate for that version. Don't assume the two match.

Common mistakes people make with Coinbase withdrawals
- Assuming every crypto withdrawal is free because internal transfers are†.
- Forgetting that the network fee stacks on top of Coinbase's own cut for USDT and Lightning.
- Comparing Advanced Trade maker/taker rates to the regular app's built-in price spread, which isn't the same thing.
- Treating the deposit fees for wire transfers as if they also apply to withdrawals. They don't, and we have no verified withdrawal number for bank transfers.
